I hate Star Plus drama serials. Boom.
On the other hand, the lady-peoples in our family just love Star Plus and Ekta Kapoor-run drama serials.
My grandmother herself follows 3 serials, whereas my phupo (that’s aunt for you goras) used to follow 8 serials during her peak Star Plus fandom. When I used to ask her how she managed to keep up with the dramas, her only reply was the I-don’t-have-to-tell-you-everything-beta look.
Yesterday when I was sitting on the dumper – bored – I thought, “why not translate Star Plus drama titles into another language?”
When I did so, the result was complete dope. Dope as in epic. Epic as in awesome.
Read the translations by clicking the big-butted “Read the rest of this entry” below. You can see it by now, can’t you?
The Names
Enlisted here are the ditto-english-translations of the dramas currently airing on the channel. The names tend to revolve around relationships and farewells and just girl stuff basically.
- Baa Bahoo Aur Baby: Grandmother, Daughter-in-law and Baby.
- Bidaai: Farewell <— *shamefacedly* I watch it from time to time.
- Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat: The marriage party of Raja shall come (PAHAHAHAHA!)
- Sabki Laadli Bebo: Everyone’s pampered little bitch: Bebo
- Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: What is this relationship called? <— It’s called an arranged marriage, me thinks.
Star Plus makes you dumb.
Older Dramas
Of course, those were just some of the dramas that run today. The ones before them were even worse at naming a title:
- Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahoo Thee: Because the Mother-in-Law was once the Daughter-in-Law
- Kahin to Hoga: Must be somewhere
- Kumkum: Kumkum <— It’s an actual name. What were her drama-parents thinking!?
- Sshhh… Koi Hai…: Shut your mouth, someone’s around here
I don’t know if it’s the repetitive sound effects, or the husbands that die in some horrific accident (then get resurrected later) or the father-son disputes or even just the jaunty women… but it sure keeps our ladies glued to the TV like flies stick to shit.

OMG!! ROFLMAO!! ROFLMAO!!! Hahahaha! Man u rock! u r really funny! I can’t stop LMAO!
P.S. My Mom used to watch StarPlus, i did an evil little trick – removed starplus and sony manually and then lied to them; “The channels have been blocked by the cable company”. That did the Job! =P
Now they watch Paki Dramas (Me too!) but they are a 1000 times better – and no shitty stuff e.g. killed 5 times & reborn 50 times – the realities of life – that’s why i watch paki dramas (Don’t take Paki movies into account – They suck ass!)

Good write. Those dramas suck. Thank God, we don’t have these channels anymore.
p.s-However, I do think the usage of word “bitch” could be avoided because ‘baliye’ clearly doesn’t translate into ‘bitch’.

It’s not the greatest joke ever, but using bitch instead of Baliye and Bebo certainly garnered a few chuckles (from 12 year olds
)
Won’t happen again. Thanks for your feedback!

Oh Pakistani dramas are phenomenally better. No stupid sound effects and/or illogical story twists.

While we at artsyHANDS appreciate what Hussain Malik had to say, his poem on Bebo was just toooo vulgar to be on artsyHANDS! (though it was somewhat funny)
We regret any inconvenience caused by this action.
