Telenor Pakistan or to be more specific: Telenor Islamabad held a Blogger’s Meetup today (that’s 27th July) at the Paris Plaza in F-11 Markaz. It started off at 6PM and ended at about 9PM. The purpose of the event, in the words of their Facebook event page:
The agenda of the meetup is to provide a platform for bloggers of Islamabad to interact with each other, share their experience and build healthy relationships among themselves.
This was my first ever meetup. Pretty much everyone from the Islamabad blogging community was there, including the likes of @SaadGh, @dj_bubble, @hamaddar, @alzeee, @bites85, @aamir7, @Waisybabu (hey, that’s me!), @DreamzDweller and some others who’s names I clearly don’t know…

Presenations.. Presentations..
Some of the bloggers there gave a small presentation where in each presentation the blogger explained:
- How they started out with blogging
- Where they are right now
- Where they will be in the future
- Traffic, stats. And lastly, indulged in a brief question-answer session
It was a thoroughly refreshing evening. I learned more about blogging in 3 hours than I could’ve in a month on my own.
What I Learned
After all those little presentations from the bloggers, I gained significant knowledge about the blogosphere.
To sum up the most important point I learned in a single brief sentence: Blogging requires absolute dedication.
You can’t just open up a blog, start pumping out seemingly random posts and expect to be the next Saad Hamid or Haris Nadeem in a day, or a month or perhaps even a year! It requires sooo much patience, persistence and hard work to reach that prestigious high Page Rank, or hit gold on Stumble or even reach Digg’s front page.
I’ve only just started out myself and seeing how much it took the abovementioned probloggers to reach to the level they are at right now simply sends bones down my shudders.
Blogging does affect your studies. And maintaining that delicate balance of blogging and pardhai is a difficult task.
That certainly doesn’t mean I’ll stop blogging. It is perhaps the most productive way to spend time on the internet and besides, it helps me sharpen my writing skillzx0rs.
Photos!
Here a few pictures from little event we had, taken by Alam:

The calm before the whatever wannabe storm we had in mind

Now I know why the bloggers at the back were giving me dirty looks afterwards. I was blocking the projector's screen
I can’t wait for the next meetup!
